Detoxifying, improves circulation and helps combat cellulite and weight gain. Don't use if epileptic as its actions can be nerotoxic to some. Will increase milk flow in nursing mothers. As an herb it is thought to convey longevity, courage and strength.
LATIN NAME: Foeniculum vulgare
SOURCE: Steam distilled from the crushed seed.
COLOUR: Clear to pale yellow.
ORIGIN: Spain.
AROMA: Clean, fresh, sweet, aniseed like, due to high (E)-anethole content approx. 80%.
Ideal in skin preparations for mature and / or oily, dull skin. Blends well with Geranuim, Lavender and Rose. Don't use if epileptic as its actions can be nerotoxic to some.

A member of the Umbelliferae family, it is a perennial herb growing up to two metres, with feathery leaves and golden yellow flowers which appear in the summer, followed by large ribbed pale brown seeds. Thought to be a native of Malta , but now grown widely.
