LATIN NAME: Citrus aurantium amara bigarade
SOURCE: Hydro-steam distilled from the flowers of the bitter orange tree. Neroli has to be extracted buy hydro steam distilling. If you don't place in water in the vessel, like all flowers, it would be turned in a waxy mass of sludge and you wouldn't get the steam through it.
COLOUR: Clear pale yellow.
ORIGIN: Tunisia from a small orchard of mature organically grown trees of early 1900's.
From the bitter orange top quality perfumery varieties, such as Bigarade Bouquet (riche depouille), Bigarade bouquetier à Grande fleurs and dwarfs. Distiller said, flowers are from trees that were planted by a French Man during colonisation. Tunsian only available in 1ml, the next batch is from our trusted supplier in Spain.
AROMA: exquisite light floral, sweet, slight nutty under tone, characteristic of the fresh flowers
QUALITIES: Antidepressant. calming and soothing during times of stress , helps restore sleep. Ideal for skin care, especially mature/dry types.
Used as an ingredient in eau de cologne and perfume: An ingredient in one of our luxury creams. We also have a hydrolat ( floral water) of neroli which is wonderful as a skin toner and conditioner. One kilo of blossoms yields about 1 ml of oil.
Not to be mistaken for the cheaper orange blossom oil which does not have the nutty flavour.
